1 0 8 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Ol Jogi, Kenya L ocated within 58,000 acres of private and pristine nature with sweeping views of Mt Kenya, lies the private ranch Ol Jogi—full of sumptuous Hermes linens, perfectly polished Buccellati silver, and closets of Cartier crystal. An African retreat of the storied Wildenstein family—New York art dealers who built the luxurious main house and its adjacent cottages in the late seventies, Ol Jogi is first and foremost a wildlife conservancy, offering an abundance of wildlife, including the endangered white and black rhino. It is renowned as one of the most important in Africa when it comes to rhinos. Opening their doors to the public in 2013, the world was invited to experience this pocket of paradise, sheltered beneath a rocky outcrop boasting verdant lawns and its very own watering hole. With more than 300 staff—including an array of butlers, vets and 120-man strong private security force—guests can indulge in food courtesy of the family's long-standing chef, Sylvain Bell, whose salads are known to rival Yotam Ottolenghi's. For the adventurous type, days are spent conquering mountain peaks on horseback, taking a game drive in the specially adapted Land Cruiser or flying withWildenstein himself in one of his nimble Super Cub two-seaters. For those who prefer to marinate in their immediate surroundings, lunch on the veranda while watching giraffes, zebras, and impalas drink mere metres away never ceases to disappoint. Preserved as a home, rather than transformed into a hotel, Ol Jogi sleeps up to 14 people and can be rented for a weekly fee. oljogihome.com
