I like to call it a mutual journey because it is a painstaking process that takes months, during which we are exposed to the clients’ wishes, desires, anxieties or disappointments, moods and eventually excitement. It is a journey of discovery through the creation of a new precious object that stems from emotions and skilled craftsmanship. What is the relationship between you and your client before and after the creation has been completed? How does it generally evolve? It sometimes happens that a friendship is made in the process of creating together. The link is made via the empathy necessary to work towards the creation of an object, in harmony and with mutual respect. When you start to create one-of-a-kind pieces, do you start with a sketch to have a visual concept of what it will look like or do you select the stones first? That all depends. If it happens that a client comes to us with a stone they already own, we therefore design around it; or else, they approach us with an idea, and therefore we sketch it first to eventually choose the right stones for it. What goal do you want to achieve when you start to create a unique piece? I absolutely want to succeed in making their dream jewel become reality. My wish is none other than to express a new creativity. When you say that your creations go from an object to become a subject, what exactly do you mean?
