KRISTINA FIDELSKALYA U krainian-born fashion designer Kristina Fidelskaya has launched her ninth collection for the spring/summer 2018 collection, entitled “Anima”, translating as soul in English. Fidelskaya, who studied Fashion Design at ESMOD in Dubai, founded her eponymous company in 2014, entering the market with a European- style brand presenting an elegant appeal, targeted towards the contemporary woman, combining tradition with the most innovative and sophisticated fashion. Fidelskaya had a world-first brand showroom in the Dubai Design District in early 2017 and today, it is expanding rapidly on an international scale. Fidelskaya has one boutique in Dubai at Wafi Mall, and the brand is also present at Excelsior in Milan, one of Italy’s most prestigious concept stores, and her clothes are also available online. After presenting her collections in Dubai she moved to Paris where her collections drew the attention of an international audience of clients and press. The Fidelskaya spring/summer 2018 collection is inspired by the story of the 2012 British romantic drama, W.E., which explores the souls of the drama’s protagonists set against a backdrop of Brutalist architecture. Pure lines, symmetrical and linear silhouettes are the main protagonists of the collection which echoes a metropolitan yet romantic spirit. Earthy tones like mercury and rose quartz are the collection’s nuances while silk twill, linen toile and organza are the fabrics used. Two-piece looks, tops and pants are a huge part of the collection which focuses on tailoring, lightness and fabric manipulation.
