After a magnificent show in Mexico City last April, the Italian fashion duo domenico dolce and Stefano Gabbana came back to Lake Como, Italy, to present their finest creations. The four-day event started on 4th July with the opening of a pop-up store on the Patria steamboat, docked in front of villa Olmo. Here, from 10am to midnight until the 10th of July, it was possible to purchase a limited-edition collection that dolce e Gabbana had created and devoted to Lake Como, paying homage to this enchanting location with its uniquely patterned dresses and accessories. On the evening of 5th July, selected guests and clients from all over the world could admire (and purchase) the one-of-a kind jewellery pieces from the dolce e Gabbana Alta Gioielleria collection. Presented on the Concordia steamboat, an antique ship that used to navigate the lake in the 19th century, the collection was made up of brooches adorned with emeralds and gold, delicate secret watches with fully diamond pavé dials covered by unique and precious golden daisies or flawless necklaces encrusted with precious gems. When the boat docked at night, in the Piazza San Giovanni Battista in Bellagio (Como), a gala dinner was served under the lighting of famous light designer Casadei with the musical background and performance of Giusy Ferré (one of Italian’s most acclaimed popstars). The next day, the Teresio Olivelli park in Tremezzo, one of Italy’s most beautiful parks created in the 1920s by the Meier family and inspired by the gardens of the Colonna family’s majestic palace in Rome, was the backdrop to the dolce e Gabbana Alta Moda collection. The story behind the Alta Moda collection was typical of the fashion narrative of dolce e Gabbana. In fact, it wasn’t just one story but an interplay of several stories, from The Betrothed by Alessandro Manzoni (published in 1827, an Italian masterpiece which tells the story of a young man and woman who were about to marry amidst epic events from the feuds of noblemen to the Bubonic plague of 1630) to Napoleon and 18th century aristocracy to today’s visitors who still flock to Lake Como to admire the magnificent natural landscape and enjoy life in the most romantic and exclusive way.
