Simply Abu Dhabi XXXI

dIOR M aria Grazia Chiuri, since stepping into the role of dior’s Women’s Artistic and Creative director, has produced collections that empower woman. From ready to wear to haute couture, Chiuri has always been a paladin in defending and enchanting women in society as well as in fashion. With a cast of models that impressed both for its beauty and its different types of women, Chiuri devoted her couture collection to diversity. Panels with mannequins wearing white cotton toiles on dresses enter the show space and, once approved by the designer, are then reproduced using materials chosen by the client or by the designer itself for the collection, becoming finished haute couture garments. These pristine toile dresses were also a message of diversity—aren’t we all the same yet still different and unique? Those dresses were proof that we as humans are very different from each other and we should accept this difference. The collection was also a tribute to the couture spirit and skilful seamstresses that transform Chiuri’s dreams into reality. In general, the clothes were discreet, but what stood out was the impeccable tailoring and feminine silhouette as well as the bright colours. Pastel shades contrasted with vivid orange, green, red and gold tones that were vivid but not shocking…still very discreet. Lightweight embroidery, see-through effects and a precise, feminine cut were part of the collection. Matte douchesse, crepe, double-face, macrame, wood bead embroidery, ribbon embroidery, cashmere, organza and jacquard have been used for the collection. The determination of Maria Grazia was evident; she is creating important clothing, works of art for every woman who wants to be and feel beautiful, but in a private, intimate and secret relationship.
