Simply Abu Dhabi XXXI

GIORGIO ARMANI PRIvÉ F or this Fall Winter 2018-19 haute couture collection, Giorgio Armani presented a complete change of mood. From his famous minimalism, he presented a regal and opulent collection. This shift of stylistic direction started with the change of the show venue. Usually his Privé collections were shown at the Palais de Chaillot, a rational and modern space, while this time he presented the collection at the opulent, baroque Ambassade d’Italie. This season, Mr. Armani expressed a sculptural and almost regal style: sumptuous tailleurs and evening gowns. Bright and almost flashy colours like beige, champagne, black, pink, fuchsia, jade green, gold, lilac were part of the collection. The silhouette is fluid, and the craftsmanship is impressive. For instance, a cape adorned with feathers in bright pink or a gold hand-beaded gown graced the runway. velvet, tuxedo, embroidery, feathers, silk cady and tulle were the materials used for the show which was really successful. In the model casting, where Armani sometimes lacks, the models were exceptionally beautiful, and expressed majestically the regal yet fresh message of the collection. In fact, in its own way, this show was a way for Mr Armani to conquer a much younger audience of clientele without surpassing the loyal clientele that Armani has wooed over the years. The impeccable tailoring of the jackets and the savoire faire of seamstresses who create the evening gowns have been modernised and energised, conveying to the young generation the spirit of haute couture, Armani’s haute couture. The accessories feature moccasins in both sports and elegant versions and shoes with heels, while the bags are mini, precious and embellished with details.
