Comprising a rare collection of apartments and townhouses that cover 12.8 acres of land just moments from Sloane Square and Knightsbridge, Chelsea Barracks is set to establish an entirely new neighbourhood within one of London’s most esteemed enclaves that connects seamlessly with the surrounding streets of Belgravia. With five acres of new public space and exquisite amenities, Chelsea Barracks reintroduces London’s famous garden squares to Belgravia. From fertile fields to pleasure gardens, storied barracks and, finally, a unique neighbourhood, each of the seven garden squares, designed by renowned landscape architects Kim Wilkie and Gustafson Porter, has a distinctive character, and all are orientated to maximise the evening light. The development will comprise a rare collection of apartments, penthouses, mews and townhouses as well as an unparalleled array of amenities including: restaurants, shops, sports facilities, a business suite and lounge as well as a state-of-the-art health club and spa. Five acres of previously concealed land will be opened up to create beautifully landscaped public green space with seven traditional garden squares. Garrison, Mulberry and Whistler Squares are set for completion in 2019. Chelsea Barracks will weave into the very fabric of Belgravia, allowing residents to immerse themselves in a garden square renaissance for the 21st century. Responsive, sensitive and authentically engaging spaces, these squares will be enjoyed by residents, visitors and wildlife alike. London-based developer Futurecity has made a name for itself for creating partnerships, research and projects that invigorate public space. Founded by Mark davy in 2007, Futurecity works internationally to connect city makers with artists, curators, galleries and cultural institutions. From commissioning ambitious public art works to producing strategies that unlock the cultural potential of entire districts, Futurecity operates between art and other disciplines, whether science, architecture or technology, championing those who are changing the way culture is presented in an urban context. When it comes to Chelsea Barracks, Conrad Shawcross, RA is the first of a series of prolific artists appointed to create works for the seven new garden squares. due to be revealed in 2019 alongside the completion of Phase one to three of Chelsea Barracks, Shawcross’s artwork and will be situated at dove Place, on the corner of Chelsea Bridge Road, and the design quarter of the Pimlico Road leading on to Whistler Square.
