On a wonderfully secluded stretch of this coastline, in Trašte Bay along the Luštica peninsula, is Montenegro’s most ambitious new luxury development yet – Luštica Bay. The creation of this fully integrated village is so expansive and covers so many aspects, from bespoke luxury through to sustainable development, that this report is the first of a series that will explore Luštica Bay in full. It takes almost a week to tour the site and to grasp the incredible scope of the project. Luštica Bay will comprise seven world-class hotels, two marinas, an 18-hole golf course and club house designed by Gary Player, a spa and sports amenities, a bustling town centre with all kinds of shops, cafés and restaurants, 500 villas and more than 1,000 apartments. This will all be accompanied by the requisite infrastructure, such as a school and medical facilities. The surrounding landscape of Kotor Bay, or “Boka Bay” is the epitome of natural tranquillity. And for balance, the engaging bustle of village life can be enjoyed nearby at the ancient coastal towns of Kotor and Budva. Construction started in September 2013 and already some of the residential clusters feel bedded in.
