AnTonio GriMALdi Antonio Grimaldi evolves in his fashion with his last haute couture collection entitled “Labyrinth” and presented at Le Meurice Hotel private salons. The show reinterpreted the historic Greek myth of Ariadne, the Cretan princess who helps Theseus out of the Minotaur’s (Greek mythological figure of a man with a bull’s head and man’s body) labyrinth. After helping him, she falls in love with Theseus who will then abandon her on the island of naxos. So the show, as a story, narrates their meeting with the first exits that reimagines the meeting of the two (Ariadne is dressed in white as a princess and Theseus as a modern and contemporary gentleman), continuing with the bold yet magical meeting between Theseus (thus allowing us to see the delightful evolution of his men’s haute couture pieces) and the Minotaur (bold black women dressed in long gowns embellished with partridge feathers), till the end, when Ariadne liberates him from the Minotaur. The last evolution of the female protagonist of this story is Asia Argento, the italian actress, one of the leaders of the #MeToo movement, who closed the show as a fierce and independent woman. The collection was a mix of light shades of whites and touches of browns and fuchsias, while the silhouette was long and ultra-feminine. For the accessories, models wore golden nets over their eyes and gold insect- shaped jewellery snaked around wrists and fingers or crawling in the models’ hair. Haute Couture Spring Summer 2019
