Sanchez de betak. The collection has also been presented during a special event: a karaoke in the little terrace of Giacomo rosticceria in Milan. The happening, conceived by Flaccavento/Pippolini and built around an anthology of songs on the topic of ice cream, saw the participation of the protagonists, the iceScreamers: the guests themselves, involved in first person, singing and having fun. The reward for the karaoke contest has been double: the collection, with shoes offered as trophies for the best singers, and the ice creams created for the occasion by chef Paolo brunelli. These are no normal ice creams, but Santoni ice creams: stringati, patinati and handcrafted, because everything comes together, in the name of a manual dexterity and a joy of colour which are quintessentially italian and undeniably Santoni. back to the collection itself, lightness is the key note, not only representing a quality of craftsmanship that affects the product, but especially a way of being for its wearer. Going against the trend of a world full of people who just want to appear, Santoni choose a sottovoce tone, just as if every pair shoe is a whisper of elegance and kindness spread all round. For this reason, everything in the collection is softly made. Lines are reduced to the pure essence and even the typical Santoni’s coloured patinas gain an impalpable transparency of imperceptible nuances. A gentle allure is landed to the iconic styles: the double or single monk straps, declined with or without fringes. To accentuate the idea of subtraction, also the soles and heels are left untouched and even the crocodile styles are interpreted softly. A touch of exquisite virtuoso, but never too excessive, is found in the braided piping which draws 3d profiles on slippers and loafers, while unstructured lace-ups, desert boots and ankle boots have a lived-in elegance that also characterises the boating styles. The sneakers are given a tactile and sophisticated softness thanks to the light nuances juxtaposed in pictorial ways. The main materials are the quintessence of luxury shoes: suede, nubuck, uniled calf, ultra-soft, crocodile, in a neutral and calm palette of light greys, taupe, sand and white. Some iconic pieces are, for example, the Carlos, a double-buckle slipper in soft, coloured and handmade polished crocodile in an intense shade of blue, or the Colin, a monofibbia in calfskin, coloured in burgundy and brown with fringe. For the hottest days, the Erik is the perfect open toe sandal, in suede with sables tones and leather bottom. The values of the history of Santoni are once again reaffirmed: uniqueness of the result of made in italy craftsmanship, continuous research of something different, obsession with details but above all a lot of passion. 1 4 9 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
