1 5 1 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I The founders, Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Aletta Stas, launched the company back in 1988 with the vision of creating high-quality mechanical Swiss watches with a more accessible price-tag allowing more people enjoy luxury. In 2015, Frederique Constant became a precursor of Swiss made smartwatches when it introduced the first Horological Smartwatch, powered by MMT SwissConnect technology and entirely displayed with an analogue dial, thereby creating an entirely new watch category in the Swiss watch industry. In 2016, Frederique Constant integrated with the Japanese Citizen Group, where they saw the opportunity of Swiss-Japanese partnership to develop and market accessible luxury watches for the 21st century and beyond. Focussing here on four new and traditional feminine timepieces, we see the Classics Art Déco watches aligned with the concept of “affordable luxury,” upon which the Frederique Constant brand was founded, to allowmore people enjoy beautiful 100% Swiss made watches. Each watch in this new range is powered by the FC-200 quartz calibre movement, with seven jewels and a battery life that will give more than five years (63 months) of reliable accuracy. The highly polished and oval-shaped case is pleasingly ergonomic and will sit elegantly on the wearer’s wrist. There is a wonderfully delicate Guilloché decoration in the centre of the dial and the overall feel is 1920s social glitterati. A balanced combination of modern materials and vintage aesthetics turns this timepiece into a unique fashion accessory. The delicate oval shape of the case emphasizes the intense details of the Guilloché decoration on the white or Blue Navy mother-of-pearl dial, the elegant rose gold plated or silver applied and black printed Roman numerals and diamond indexes, are all statements of the vintage look that inspired the Frederique Constant watchmakers. The intricate fluted case band along with the detailing of the crown embellished with a blue sapphire makes this watch the perfect daily companion. Frederique Constant have succeeded here in celebrating femininity through a classic and timeless watch with minimalist details that embody grace and style.
