Simply Abu Dhabi XXXIV

None other than Karl Lagerfeld, the late charismatic designer and creative director of Chanel, collaborated with the Ritz’s interior design team to recreate Chanel’s world, from silken fabrics to meticulously designed furniture and the perfect Chanel look and feel of the suite. Chanel once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous” and it appears Lagerfeld applied this perspective to the interior design of her eponymous suite. Elevated elegance The colour palette is a la Coco; black, white and shades of beige. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite also offers a luxurious living space and perfect spot to embrace the Parisian flair. While elements of design are vintage, all elements have been touched up by modern- day comfort. It’s spacious room and light space, with crystal chandeliers dangling from the elegantly ornated ceiling and plenty of large windows providing natural light, with several seating and designated work areas. The large windows provide plenty of light. A collection of bookcases contains books on Chanel as well as elegant design tokens. There are sketches by Karl Lagerfeld, which have been celebrated as an additional objets d’art since his sudden passing. And all throughout the suite plenty a memory has been kept alive in never-seen-before photos of Chanel at the Ritz. The bathroom oozes Chanel with her name engraved in bathroom faucets and a vanity table with a sample collection of the Chanel brand. Even the classy spa on the lower level of the hotel has been baptised the Chanel Au Ritz spa, a one of its kind, worldwide—with underground 1,700 square meter swimming pool—offering various Chanel-inspired beauty treatments and branded products.
