Simply Abu Dhabi XXXV

This latest innovation comes from a long line of historical breakthroughs. Since 1865, Zenith has smashed through the boundaries of watchmaking, firstly winning acclaim for the precision of its chronometers, for which it has won 2,333 chronometry prizes. Famed for its legendary 1969 El Primero calibre enabling short-time measurement accurate to the nearest 1/10th of a second, Zenith has since developed over 600 movement variations. Today, Zenith offers new and fascinating achievements, including 1/100th of a second timing with the Defy El Primero 21. With the DEFY Inventor, the groundbreaking movement is suitably matched with an avant-garde exterior. The case is constructed from ultra-light materials. The textured bezel is made out of a high-tech material called Aeronith, which is the lightest aluminium composite in the world. Aeronith is made of open-pore aluminium foam, stiffened with a polymer, resulting in a final material that is three times lighter than titanium. In line with maintaining extreme levity, brushed titanium is used for the 44mm diameter case. The dial is also stripped of excess material and is open-worked to form the symbol of a propeller, of which the five blades evoke the Zenith brand star. The star appears at the tip of the central sweep-seconds hand, while broad hours and minutes hands sweep over the mechanism. With its chronometric precision, this trailblazing three- hand watch is now series-produced and will appeal to collectors, connoisseurs, physics enthusiasts and urban design geeks. There will only be a few hundred created so move fast to avoid disappointment.
