T he Tangente is the iconic watch model from NOMOS Glashütte and in time for the festive season the cool and contemporary German brand launches the Tangente Midnight blue in two sizes, 35mm and 38mm. The metallic accents on the case of the larger model add a touch of Christmas sparkle and the rich midnight blue radiates elegance, while the smaller model has warmth with gold on the hands and dial. Launched over 25 years ago, the Tangente has become a design classic in the quarter century, with the Bauhaus-inspired aesthetics proving popular with international watch lovers. Following the pivotal principle of “form follows function” these new versions are a fine example of subtle harmony and restrained charm. At the heart of both of these mechanical timepieces is the Alpha calibre, a proprietary movement created by NOMOS in Glashütte. This hand-wound and incredibly precise calibre, which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal glass back, is finished beautifully with sunburst polishing on the ratchet wheel, Glashütte ribbing on the three-quarter plate, and perlage on the base plate. The smaller watch is presented on a beige velour leather strap, while the Tangente 38 midnight blue features exclusively silver hands and typography, which coordinate beautifully with the stainless steel case and anthracite velour leather strap. The metallic accents on both timepieces are framed by the beguiling blue of their dials. The town of Glashütte, tucked away in the hills of rural Saxony, is the ticking heart of German watchmaking. NOMOS has a famous neighbour in A. Lange & Söhne, and the region is world famous for its high-quality timepieces. The industry has flourished since German reunification in 1990 – the year in which NOMOS was founded. N O M O S – T A N G E N T E M I D N I G H T B L U E
