as silk curtain fabric by Manuel Canovas and furniture by Julian Chichester. All is inspired by the picturesque location, which is central to the suite’s design. Brown’s Hotel has a fascinating history and is believed to be London’s first hotel, opening in 1837 – the year Queen Victoria took the throne. Since then, Brown’s has hosted many distinguished guests and, to this day, this glamorous, five-star establishment welcomes guests ‘in-the-know’. As mentioned, Rudyard Kipling was a frequent guest, as was celebrated novelist Agatha Christie –two of the greatest writers in the British canon. Both were said to have found inspiration within the heart of Brown’s and are believed to have penned novels while staying here. And it is from Brown’s that Alexander Graham Bell made the first ever UK telephone call, and President Theodore Roosevelt stayed on his honeymoon. In its renowned history, Brown’s has always been innovative, introducing a number of modern concepts such as the first ever restaurant inside a hotel. In 2003 Brown’s Hotel was acquired by Rocco Forte Hotels, who transformed it into the exceptional building that it is today. Honouring the past, whilst ever forward-looking, Brown’s Hotel is the ultimate in London luxury.
