iconic Boucheron aesthetic. From initial composition of the alloys until final assembly of the four bands, each gesture is precisely executed to within the nearest nano- millimetre, as even the most minute discrepancy could jeopardize the end result. Using a press, without either glue or solder, the four bands are assembled by hand and a final sound—a soft “click”—signals that the piece is perfect. This collection harnesses technology to complement traditional jewellery-making techniques, without ever replacing them. Crafting the Quatre ring involves executing tasks to a degree of precision that no human hand could manage, so they are done using digitally controlled machines. The stage of turning—sculpting the gold to shape the inside and outside of the ring’s bands—is one example. New designs for the next 20 years This year more than ever, Quatre Classique plays around with its codes in some new anniversary pieces. The collection explores every configuration, by turns supple or rigid, without ever straying from the iconic aesthetic. It all started in 2004, with a ring... The Creative Studio marks 20 years of the Quatre Classique ring with new pieces that celebrate its original colours in fine style. The dream concept was to unfurl the codes of Quatre— an inherently rigid collection—into a flowing ribbon. To accomplish this, Boucheron’s jewellers had to assemble more than a hundred parts by hand and craft articulations to link them all, in order to respect the original aesthetic of the 2004 ring. Now the hero design of this anniversary year, a Quatre ribbon, is deployed across 7 different pieces: 2 necklaces, a belt, 3 bracelets and a hair jewel. Quatre is four codes coming together.
