The success has already been astronomical, based on a visceral response to this harmonious dialogue between jewellery and couture. At the 2024 Cannes Film Festival’s “Once Upon A Time” evening, the front row read like a veritable who’s who of international celebrity and high society. Among the luminaries in attendance were the eternally graceful Demi Moore, the incomparable Greta Gerwig (presiding over the Cannes jury with characteristic élan), the effervescent Diane Kruger, and the radiant Bella Hadid – all of whom were dressed in Chopard. The charismatic William Abadie of “Emily in Paris” fame lent his Gallic charm to the proceedings, while Un Certain Regard juror Maïmouna Doucouré brought her discerning eye to bear on the sartorial delights on display. The iconic Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, a bastion of timeless elegance perched on the sun-kissed French Riviera, served as the resplendent backdrop for this year’s highly anticipated showcase. The choice of venue was nothing short of inspired, as it seamlessly melded the rich heritage of Chopard with the ineffa- ble allure of the Côte d’Azur. La Grande Allée, the hotel’s famed promenade, was transformed into a runway of dreams, where models glided effortlessly, their silhouettes cutting through the balmy Mediterranean air. The juxtaposition of Chopard’s exquisite creations against the azure expanse of the sea created a tableau vivant that left spectators utterly mesmerized. The collection that graced the runway was a testa- ment to Scheufele’s unerring eye for beauty and her commitment to sartorial excellence. The designs ran the gamut from ethereal, gossamer-light confections that seemed to float on air to more structured pieces that celebrated the jewelled creations on display in all their glory. The colour palette was a celebration of nature’s bounty, ranging from deep, regal purples to vibrant corals and every hue in between. Floral motifs abounded, with 3D butterflies alighting on bodices and exquisite blooms unfurling across a particularly striking brocade suit. Textures were equally diverse, with luxurious velvets rubbing shoulders with diaphanous chiffons and richly embroidered silks. The iconic Chopard heart, a motif beloved by jewellery aficionados the world over, found new expression in the subtle patterns and embellish- ments that adorned many of the pieces. The creation of such exquisite garments is a truly international endeavour, drawing on the skills of artisans from around the globe. Scheufele works closely with a team of professional designers, including the talented Fridtjof Linde, to translate her visionary sketches into tangible works of art. Simply Abu Dhabi | 35
