My room is spacious and luxurious and the Aman signature spa-like bathroom, almost as big as the room, includes the most luxurious bathrobes and amenities. I have the chance to view the Alcova Tiepolo Suite, which takes its name from the 18th- century frescoes by the legendary Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo that adorn its walls and ceiling. It’s a stunning suite and flanking the bedroom is a hand-painted Chinese sitting room, offering a most unusual private sanctuary. Service & Hospitality From the moment guests step through the doors of Aman Venice, they are enveloped in a level of service that is both discreet and anticipatory. Speaking to one of the concierges, she tells me, “Most of the staff have been with the Aman since it first opened. The hotel seeks to be a home away from home for all guests, and the service reflects this.” I notice there are no signs to the lobby or restaurant or bar, and this further deepens the sense of being in a private residence. It also creates an effect of privacy and exclusivity. The concierge team were approachable and polite, and they are available to rapidly arrange bespoke experiences according to guest’s individual interests, whether it be private tours of the city’s hidden gems or in-house cooking classes. Last year the hotel celebrated its 10th anniversary and on the occasion the General Manager, Luciano Garavaglia, remarked, “We are honoured to be stewards of this magnificent palazzo, which has been part of Venice’s rich history for centuries and, in its latest iteration with Aman, has become a sanctuary for our guests over the past 10 years.
