A t first, I didn’t spot the entrance to La Sultana, one of the most famed and luxurious hotels in the ochre-hued city of Marrakesh. It was only as I stepped out of the car to look around that an immaculately dressed doorman approached and politely offered to valet park the car whilst his colleague escorted me to reception through the discreet archway just behind us. Tucked away in the heart of the Kasbah, the royal quarter, this seductive property consists of five intricately designed and interconnected riads, each one transporting guests through the eras of Moroccan dynasties. From the rooftop terrace of La Sultana an unforgettable panoramic view unfurls, covering the souks down below to the distant Atlas Mountains. The hotel’s location is perfect for sightseeing as it is close to the historic sites of the Saadian Tombs, the Royal Palace, the Bahia Palace, and it’s within the perimeter of the Medina, which is listed in UNESCO’s World Heritage. It is also adjacent to the Moulay El Yazid Mosque and a mere 10-minute stroll to the famous Djemma El-Fnaa Square. La Sultana Marrakesh 202 | Simply Abu Dhabi
