As a reflection of meticulous stylistic research and refined technical mastery, this icon of watchmaking design has continuously evolved its lines. Shortly after its creation in 1917, Cartier began offering new interpretations of the Tank, exploring variations in shape, size, materials, and dials. These evolutions include the Tank Cintrée, Tank Chinoise, Tank Asymétrique, Tank Américaine, Tank Française, and more recently, the Tank Must with its photovoltaic SolarBeatTM movement. Created in 1922, the Tank Louis Cartier is the successor to the original Tank, known as the Tank Normale, whose design Louis Cartier reworked just five years after its inception. The case is elongated, the brancards are refined, the angles softened, and the choice of the rectangular shape is embraced. Its creative potential is inexhaustible, and its elegance is always guaranteed. This is thanks to the brilliance of its design, on which Cartier today relies to imagine a larger version featuring a new generation of mechanical Manufacture movement with automatic winding. Integrated while respecting the lines and proportions of the Tank, this movement, named 1899 MC, allows for the enlargement of the Tank Louis Cartier, available in both rose gold and yellow gold. The yellow gold features a semi-matte grey alligator leather strap and the rose gold a semi-matte brown alligator leather strap; both models boast a flinqué dial and blued- steel sword-shaped hands. A true classic of the Maison, celebrated by aesthetes for its distinctive style, the Tank Louis Cartier has evolved into a genuine collection. Each model is a testament to the iconic features of the Tank: the railway track, Roman numerals, parallel brancards, blued-steel sword-shaped hands, and a beaded winding crown, set with a sapphire or ruby cabochon, or even an inverted pavilion diamond, depending on the model.
