Rooms and Suites Mandarin Oriental, Milan features 104 guestrooms, including 36 suites and junior suites, over five floors. Each room has a contemporary, uniform interior design, reflecting the “classic” Milanese style, calm and neutral. Inspired by a thoughtful balancing of Milanese elegance with functionality, the resulting interior design gives each room a homely feel. The contemporary-style interiors exude a sense of exceptional comfort. Floors are oak parquet, walls feature precious boiseries, and every item of furniture is crafted by leading Italian firms with bespoke pieces designed by Antonio Citterio. A special edition of black and white photographs by photographer Antonio Salvador for Mandarin Oriental, Milan decorate the walls of rooms, suites and corridors of the hotel. The rooms & suites offer a sophisticated and calm ambiance, with neutral colours and natural light. The comfortable beds are “embraced” by arched headboards to create an intimate feel, while grand, Italian marble bathrooms with large windows give a sense of space in the surroundings. Utmost attention has been given to technology, with each room offering ‘air play’TV and a high-tech box complete with all types of plugs, such as HDMI cables that enables a guest to connect laptop and television. Mandarin Oriental, Milan also boasts three ‘Specialty’ suites: the Premier Suite, the Fornasetti Suite, and the Presidential Suite. The Premier Suite is a tribute to the Milanese rationalism and minimalist style of Gio Ponti, a key figure of mid-century architecture and design, as his style has been taken up by many artists since the 1950s. The space is 100 square metres in size and is made up of a living area, a bedroom, a master bath and a guest bathroom and is decorated throughout with black walnut. The suite features important pieces by Gio Ponti, including an original console table and other ornaments such as the ‘Aero’ teapot, the ‘Pompei’ candelabra and the ‘Tubi’ vase, all created by Christofle and based on Ponti’s designs. Other important elements by Italian masters such as Luigi Caccia Dominioni “Catilina” armchair give the suite a special Milanese allure. The one-of-a-kind Fornasetti Suite is 100 square metres in size and is divided into a living area, a bedroom, a master bath and a separate guest bathroom. The suite is located on the second floor, the ‘noble’ floor of the hotel, named as such for its high ceilings and graced with abundant natural light. Furnished with original Fornasetti pieces, the suite is beautifully appointed with design items such as the trumeau “Architettura”, the precious wallpapers “Nuvolette” covering the ceiling, and elegant vase and mirrors of the Milanese Atelier. The black Italian marble bathroom boasts a Spoon XL bathtub fromAgape, a separate toilet area, shower and double sink.
