Zuleya is a social enterprise under the Fatima Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Initiative (FBMI) that sells handwoven carpets and handicrafts made by Afghan artisans. Entirely 100% organic and handcrafted in Afghanistan, every stage of this ancient craft, from shearing the sheep, to spinning the wool, toward knotting the design, to trimming the pile of the finished rug is carried out by hand. FBMI was established to transform the lives of Afghan women and children through sustainable social and economic development. With a strong focus on healthcare, education, and vocational training, the initiative ensures long-term impact. Every artisan receives free medical care, vocational training, and schooling for their children. About 70% of FBMI employees are women and widows, many of whom work from home.
