Motivated by his dedication to safeguard the legacy of the UAE’s late father, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, he wanted to encourage the citizens of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to help each other live more rewarding lives. Therefore the Government of Abu Dhabi has chosen to celebrate kind-hearted individuals who have made a difference to their communities for the greater good of Abu Dhabi, selflessly devoting their time and energies to improve the Emirate of Abu Dhabi making it a place, where humanity and goodness are celebrated. The sixth Abu Dhabi Awards ceremony was held at the magnificent Emirates Palace on 25 January 2012 honouring ten remarkable for their remarkable contributions to Abu Dhabi. Attending the award ceremony were Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; Mohammad Ahmad Al Murr, Head of the Federal National Council; other Shaikhs, ministers, senior officials, and the families of the winners. His Highness General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, declared that the Abu Dhabi Awards reflected the continued commitment to preserve the legacy of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan by rewarding those who were following the example he had set for them. “In honouring these truly remarkable individuals, we honour the original values and noble principles of the UAE society. Such values and principles are still deeply rooted in the minds of many of our citizens and they deserve our thanks and appreciation for the benefit they brought to our society,” Greeting each award-winner His Highness Shaikh Mohammad greeted praised their efforts, expressing his gratitude for their highly commendable humanitarian spirit and devotion to community work. The ceremony was, as ever, a great celebration of a new generation of noble individuals striving to embody the laudable traditions instilled by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder of the United Arab Emirates had a deep-rooted belief in the kindness and munificence of the inhabitants of his nation. During his unforgettable life and leadership he demonstrated great warmth for his people derived from a strong faith in humanity. His belief that every human being is intrinsically altruistic and self-sacrificing saw him encourage communities to care for others.
