1 5 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I A nyone who has visited Abu Dhabi will know that it is one of the most luxurious destinations in the world. In previous instalments of the A & J diaries, it’s been our pleasure to report on some of the most lavish experiences that the Emirate has to offer. We’ve enjoyed staying at some of Abu Dhabi’s finest hotels, and dined in some of its very best restaurants. Despite all this, we were still experiencing butterflies of excitement about our visit to the Jumeirah Hotel at Etihad Towers. Since it opened last November, there has been a huge amount of buzz around the Etihad Towers complex – and it’s easy to see why. The five towers, set in a beautiful coastal location, encompass a sumptuous choice of world-class residences, prestigious offices, and luxury retail outlets. The complex was developed under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan’s Projects Department, with architects DBI Australia starting work on the unique project in January 2006. So it’s taken over five years to complete – and when you see the towers, you’ll agree that it was time well spent. It’s fair to say that the ambitious beachfront project has already developed iconic status. To look at, the towers simply take your breath away. They are located on the shores of the Arabian Gulf in the exclusive Ras Al Akhdar area, on the West Corniche of Abu Dhabi. It’s a beautiful location, and also an incredibly convenient one – close to the central business district and Ministries Area, and only about 40km from Abu Dhabi International Airport.
