3 6 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I equipped Treatment Suite. In the Rasoul suite you can experience a traditional Middle Eastern method of cleansing and detoxifying, using mud, herb-scented steam and an oil-infused warm shower. The Hammam suite has a traditional heated marble goebektas bed, and a private steam and sauna room that combine exposure to different temperatures. There are also opportunities for invigorating body exfoliation, steam immersion and a rejuvenating massage. In addition to the traditional spa treatments available, the Talise Spa has a host of other opportunities for those seeking discovery and deep relaxation. There are options for Ayurveda therapies and anti-aging spa treatments, exercise and fitness programmes with personal gym instructors, and customised spa programmes devised especially for men. And the spa is also home to some health-enhancing and delicious nutritional menu options, developed by Jumeirah’s own Resort Wellness Chef, Gabi Kurz from the Madinat Jumeirah resort in Dubai. The Director of the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Talise Spa is Arlene Finch. An expert in her field with many years of spa and beauty experience, Arlene has established numerous leading spas across Asia, and in locations including the United Arab Emirates, Cambodia, China, Mauritius, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. She has also been instrumental in the research and development of new spa treatments. Arlene has said that her goal at the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Talise Spa is to take visitors on a holistic journey that is both calming and beneficial to the individual. And after our visit, we concluded that she has been entirely successful in that aim – it was bliss! Following our visit to the Talise Spa, we relaxed over a coffee in the Bodhi cafe right next to it. We felt infused with wellbeing, and looking over to the state-of-the art gym also next to the spa we had the chance to reflect on the fantastic range of sports and leisure opportunities that the hotel offers. There are three gorgeous swimming pools and a glorious private beach. It’s certainly great that the Jumeirah allows you to combine luxury with healthy pursuits. But ultimately, what makes this place so amazing isn’t the features – as fantastic as they are – but the whole package combined with the philosophy behind it. When you stay at this hotel you feel rested and happy because that’s what the staff genuinely want you to feel. Underlying spirit The spirit that underlies the Jumeirah was demonstrated at Etihad Towers in May, when the first-ever get-together of residents within the community took place. Around 300 people, including more than 50 children, took part in the fun-filled event, which included a Sumo wrestling ring, clowns, face painters and balloon artists, among other attractions. Food was provided by the Jumeirah. Many of those attending felt that the event further marked the evolution of Etihad Towers as the definitive lifestyle destination in the capital city. Richard Foulds, Property Manager at Etihad Towers for Real Estate (ETRE), said: “We are focused on fostering the spirit of solidarity among our residents, and creating a truly vibrant community that offers a much-cherished lifestyle experience for our residents.” Foulds added that the team was planning a range of children’s activities at Etihad Towers, including dedicated play zones and said that further events are being planned. For us, the event seemed to sum up the approach of the Jumeriah. It’s ultimate luxury with the human touch – and underlying it all is a commitment to absolute class. It’s an environment that we were truly privileged and grateful to have experienced.
