7 0 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Chloé: free spirited A nother superb retail experience which visitors can enjoy is the internationally renowned luxury fashion brand Chloé – which opened its newest boutique in the capital in July 2012. Situated on the 1st floor, the new boutique is spread across 168 square meters. When we visited, it seemed that the boutique itself was a work of art – the mannequins seemed to resemble amazing museum sculptures, while a thrilling ambience was created by beautiful and radical light designs. The Chloé brand is renowned for lending a free-spirited take to classic designs and, having visited the new boutique, we can confirm that the prominent label is living up to its reputation. The hugely impressive items on display blended classic femininity with edgy modernity. Designed by British-born designer Clare Waight Keller, the latest Spring/Summer 2012 collection will be rolled out as the boutique’s premiere line. It features highly romantic and fluid silhouettes in dreamy pastel shades. The new boutique features Chloé’s complete line of products, which take in a huge range. There’s everything from prêt-a-porter to in-vogue shoes, fragrances and accessories. It’s no doubt quality like this which means that Chloe’s popularity is soaring around the Middle East. It now has a presence in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Lebanon, and the new Chloé boutique in the Avenue is the third within the UAE. Chloé was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion, an Egyptian-born Parisienne who was renowned for her dark beauty and intriguing bohemian spirit. Rejecting the stiff formality of the 1950s fashion, she created soft, body conscious clothes from fine fabrics and called them “luxury prêt-à-porter”. These beautifully made clothes, available off the rack, were unique for their time. And we’re pleased to say that more than fifty years after Gaby Aghion imagined it, Chloé’s vision of romantic, ultra feminine fashion lives on here in Abu Dhabi.
