Simply Abu Dhabi VIII

1 9 5 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I We were staying in one of the hotel’s superb spa suites. These are designed to be the ultimate in tranquillity. We loved the room as soon as we stepped into it. It was decorated in exquisite natural colours, which created a mood of refined luxury. The design of the living area was utterly chic, and the relaxing private terrace was just what we were looking for. The views from this terrace were simply stunning. The Address Downtown is known to have some of the best views in Dubai. You can look out over the Old Town and the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa tower. At 828 metres and over 160 stories tall, it’s an inspiring and magnificent structure. As you might expect, the room was fitted to utterly luxurious standards, with a large flat screen television and complimentary wireless internet access. The bathroom was superbly designed, with double vanities, marble floors and charming mosaic finishes. Gorgeous dark wooden Venetian blinds divided the bedroom and bathroom, allowing glorious natural light to stream through. Our favourite thing of all about our suite, though, was the exquisite outdoor spa bath. There really is no finer way to relax and let your cares float away. The Address Downtown’s fantastic array of restaurants also allowed us to dine in style. You can read our detailed review of the exquisite Chinese cuisine at Hakuma restaurant on page 198. We also had a brilliant meal at Fazaris, which offers an exciting blend of Japanese, Asian, Indian, Arabian and Mediterranean cuisine. The outdoor pool restaurant, Zeta, and Saha Café, a lake-side coffee shop serving Arabic mezze and shisha, also looked brilliant. And alongside these restaurants are some exquisite lounges, where a truly refined and luxurious atmosphere prevails. We had a particularly great time at Calabar, which has a vibrant Latin-inspired theme. The Address Downtown also boasts a magnificent sky lounge, Neos, on the 63rd floor, and a lobby lounge called Risala. We were also delighted to have access to the truly sumptuous Club lounge on the 7th floor. Moreover, the elegant new Cigar Lounge looked truly stylish. It’s sure to become one of the must-be-seen places for the city’s elite trendsetters. Witnessing this stunning array of restaurants and lounges, it was easy to understand why the Address Downtown sums up its philosophy as, ‘Where life happens’. One of our most memorable experiences at the Address Downtown was a visit to the hotel’s spa – a wonderfully relaxing space. It has separate male and female changing and relaxation areas, and there are a total of eleven private treatment rooms, all with rain showers. We opted for the private suite for two for our treatments. The spa also boasts a steam room, luxurious showers and the exquisite Oriental Room, where Thai and Shiatsu-inspired treatments can be enjoyed. Guests at the address downtown are also very well catered for regarding active pursuits. There are in total over 1,000 square metres of swimming pools, shared between five separate, tiered pools. After a wonderfully relaxing couple of days and some exquisite meals, some exercise classes at the hotel’s modern fitness centre were just what we wanted to get us back into the swing of things.
