A leading luxury menswear brand and one of the most renowned businesses in Italy, Ermenegildo Zegna Group was founded in 1910 in Trivero, in the Biella Alps, by young entrepreneur Ermenegildo. His vision was to create the world’s finest textiles through innovation and the sourcing of the noblest fibres directly from their markets of origin. The company is managed today by the fourth generation of the Zegna family with Gildo Zegna as CEO. Since the late 1980s, the company has implemented a comprehensive strategy of verticalization, creating a global luxury brand that ranges from fabric to clothing and accessories, and is now focused on retailing, pioneering early entry into emerging luxury. For example, Zegna was the first luxury brand to open a monobrand store in China in 1991. In 2010, Ermenegildo Zegna celebrated 100 years of excellence – an accomplishment echoed today with the brand’s 557 Zegna stores (311 company-owned) in 87 countries around the world. But Ermenegildo Zegna’s creations aren’t just limited to fashionable garments – in March 2012 the Group launched ZegnArt, an independent entity focused on international collaboration in the field of visual arts. Ermenegildo Zegna Unveils its Flagship Boutique at the Avenue at Etihad Towers In partnership with UAE Trading Establishment, Ermenegildo Zegna recently unveiled its new Flagship store in ‘Avenue at Etihad Towers’ – Abu Dhabi’s first stand-alone high-end luxury shopping destination. The store, designed by Zegna’s in-house architects, is based on the creative concept developed by architect Peter Marino for the Zegna global store in Milan. It covers around 190 square metres of luxury selling space in Etihad Towers, which houses Jumeirah, one of the world’s most luxurious five star hotels. Developed over one floor, the boutique is the ultimate men’s emporium and features a selected range of Ermenegildo Zegna products and services. Nature and technology are harmoniously blended within the interior design through the masculine and natural colour palette created with stone, rosewood, mahogany wood, and both gun and bronze metal. The entrance area is dedicated to a large exposition of leather goods, shoes and a preview of the Upper Casual collection, whereas the complete collection is displayed in a dedicated area together with the appealing Zegna Sport collection and an extensive range of leather and textile accessories. The Sartoria room, housing the Couture collection and ties, boasts a fireplace in front of a sitting area equipped with leather and fabric armchairs. Additionally, the VIP resting room, located beside the exclusive Su Misura (meaning ‘made-to-measure’ in Italian) service area, is decorated in golden colours and champagne tones, and is equipped with all the necessary facilities. The space is a brilliant example of the high-quality individual services offered in the store. Already present within the Middle Eastern market, Zegna items have been offered for many years at the Rodeo Drive multi-brand boutique in Abu Dhabi’s Marina Mall as well as the same store located downtown on Khalifa Street. Both corner stores carry the full range of Zegna brands. But with this new flagship boutique on Level 1 in the Avenue at Etihad Towers, the brand truly comes alive within the UAE’s capital. Ermenegildo Zegna’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection Spring 2013 Menswear Ermenegildo Zegna’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection is devoted entirely to fabric. Silk made an appearance in every look and featured in a mix of perforated knits, shining in shantung suiting as well as shifts printed with tropical patterns such as mango leaves or bananas. The silhouette of these new styles was more sharply cut, exact and precise, as seen in tapered and high-waist pants coupled with wide- lapel jackets and strong shoulders. The collection clearly spells glamorous eccentricity – allowing men this season to dress for the occasion whether they happen to be in Capri or Ibiza, but always with a little pizzazz and flamboyance to keep things interesting.
