Coloured deep pastel purple and lined with dimwhite floor lights, the corridors give off an at first eerie feeling that soon lessens as one becomes habituated to the intriguing décor. Our rooms were white and spacious complete with wooden floors and big gray and red patterned rugs that were positioned under the large bed stationed right in the middle of our room. Stylish mirror side-tables and a white desk surrounded our sleeping area, while sheer white curtains separated the room from the bathroom, which was equipped with a stylish shower, toilet and contemporary sink and hanging mirror. All rooms are provided with a TV, air conditioning, quirky art, and a convenient umbrella in the closet to combat the rainy London weather. We arrived in the afternoon and decided to wander around the hotel to check out the space. We soon came upon the Mat Hatters Afternoon Tea and decided to stop and relish the venue’s rich assortment of teas, cocktails, sandwiches, scones and various sweets, all presented on stylish tableware and a traditional tea party cake stand.
