Burjeel Cancer Institute has unveiled a transformative treatment modality in precision medicine, introducing therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for patients with specific metastatic tumour types. This advancement exemplifies the institute’s commitment to delivering evidence-based therapies aligned with international standards whilst strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional centre of excellence in sophisticated oncological care.
The therapy operates through an elegantly precise mechanism: it targets tumour cells by engaging specific receptors expressed on their surface, permitting radioactive treatment to be delivered directly to malignant tissue whilst substantially minimising exposure to adjacent healthy structures. This targeted methodology enables the development of individualised treatment protocols founded upon the distinct biological characteristics of each patient’s tumour.

The treatment is delivered at the Nuclear Medicine Department within Burjeel Medical City, Abu Dhabi, a facility equipped with advanced technological infrastructure and supported by a highly specialised multidisciplinary team. This collaborative group comprises nuclear medicine physicians, medical oncologists, medical physicists, nuclear medicine technologists and radiation safety experts, collectively ensuring the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety.
