Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open Returns for Fifth Edition in January 2027

The celebrated WTA 500 tournament will welcome the world's elite women's tennis players to Zayed Sports City, promising an expanded experience that extends far beyond the court with entertainment, community programmes and family activities.
The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open will return for its fifth edition from 30 January to 6 February 2027, hosted at the International Tennis Centre within Zayed Sports City. The milestone tournament will build upon the remarkable success of recent years, having welcomed more than 60,000 spectators in 2026, cementing its position as a pinnacle fixture on the international women’s tennis calendar.
The 2027 edition will feature 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams competing across eight days of compelling tennis. Players will contend for a prize fund of US$1.2 million, alongside valuable WTA ranking points, reflecting the tournament’s significance within professional women’s sport.
A Tournament Beyond the Court
The Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open has evolved into a destination event that transcends the sport itself. The tournament village, spanning 15,000 square metres, has become a vibrant gathering place where families and enthusiasts experience world-class entertainment, engage with leading players through Q&A sessions, participate in tennis clinics and enjoy an extensive programme of cultural and recreational activities.
For 2027, organisers will introduce a new Village Pass offering comprehensive access to this expansive experience. Adult passes will be available for AED10 per day, whilst children under the age of 12 may attend free of charge during the opening weekend on 30 and 31 January. This inaugural pass includes access to qualifying matches, live entertainment, player interactions, food and beverage offerings, sponsor activations and children’s programming.
Community Legacy and Sporting Development
The tournament’s commitment to nurturing grassroots participation has yielded substantial results. Through the Road to Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open programme, more than 3,000 young players have been engaged, with participation from more than 90 schools across the emirate. This educational initiative reflects the tournament’s philosophy of building lasting sporting culture within the community.
Further distinguishing itself within international tennis, the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open became the first WTA-only event to stage a wheelchair tennis tournament, exemplifying its comprehensive approach to inclusion and expanding access to the sport across all communities.
Strategic Vision for Abu Dhabi
His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, stated: “The fifth edition of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open is another important milestone for Abu Dhabi’s sporting journey. The tournament has grown significantly in just a few years, while its impact reaches beyond the court through its engagement with young players, schools and the wider community. Through these initiatives, we aim to support the development of tennis, strengthen sporting culture and encourage people to make sport a way of life.”
Homaid Al Shimmari, Deputy Group CEO of Mubadala Investment Company, added: “Reaching a fifth edition, we are proud to build on this momentum alongside our partners, creating opportunities for the next generation and delivering a lasting legacy that extends well beyond the court.”
