Ten University Teams Advance to Emirates Robotics Competition Finals at Dubai Future Week

Ten University Teams Advance to Emirates Robotics Competition Finals at Dubai Future Week

Elite robotics squads from across the UAE prepare to demonstrate innovative solutions during the fourth edition of the Emirates Robotics Competition, competing to programme machines capable of performing complex library logistics.

The finest robotics talent across the United Arab Emirates converges this November for a competition that pushes the boundaries of practical innovation. Ten university teams have been selected to compete in the finals of the Emirates Robotics Competition, a showcase of engineering excellence that forms part of Dubai Future Week 2026.

The challenge this year centres on a compelling real-world application: designing and implementing robotic systems capable of performing logistical tasks within major libraries. Teams will programme their creations to return books to designated shelves and storage areas at Mohammed bin Rashid Library, a task that demands precision, algorithmic thinking and a deep understanding of robotic systems.

The finalist teams represent a cross section of academic excellence across the region. Competing are E-Shocks and MeowBot from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah; TechBook from Amity University Dubai; JALPARI, The Page Turners and Cognicore from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai; 4to1MUX and TIGER from Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai; Titanium from the American University of Sharjah; and WastedPotential from Middlesex University Dubai.

The competition finals will take place during Dubai Future Week, running from 18th to 21st November 2026 at Emirates Towers and the Museum of the Future. On Saturday, 21st November, the finals open to the public, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness university teams demonstrate their robotics capabilities and innovative engineering solutions in action. Winners will be announced on the final day of the week and recognised with cash prizes and scholarships at Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai.

Organised by Dubai Future Labs, part of Dubai Future Foundation, the Emirates Robotics Competition represents a broader educational mission. Launched in 2023, it exists to identify and nurture emerging talent in robotics, develop the next generation of robotics specialists within the UAE, and encourage participants to engage with tangible challenges through applied robotics. The competition bridges the gap between software simulation and practical implementation, strengthening participants’ grasp of robotic operating systems and international best practices. Partnership with Rochester Institute of Technology, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, the American University of Sharjah and Mohammed bin Rashid Library underscores the collaboration between academia, industry and the cultural sector in advancing robotics innovation.

Dubai Future Week itself extends far beyond the robotics competition. As we reported earlier, The Challenge concept unites global participants in AI and robotics competitions, with the broader festival featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions and future-focused experiences across eight distinct concepts. The event draws together policymakers, industry leaders, academics and innovators in a space designed to explore and shape emerging technologies and their role in society.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The Emirates Robotics Competition reflects a strategic commitment across the Emirates to cultivate technical expertise and innovation capacity. By engaging university teams in solving real-world problems through robotics, the competition strengthens the pipeline of skilled engineers and technologists essential to the region’s continued development across sectors including logistics, library services, healthcare and manufacturing.

The event also reinforces Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s position as a global hub for technological advancement and education. The involvement of both national universities and international institutions based in the UAE demonstrates how the emirates attract and retain world-class academic talent, fostering an ecosystem where innovation flourishes through collaboration between educational institutions, cultural organisations and industry partners.
