Innovation City Free Zone Authority inaugurates a dedicated space for digital creators, signalling the emirate's commitment to fostering the next generation of content makers and strengthening its digital economy
The creative economy has found a new home in Ras Al Khaimah. Innovation City Free Zone Authority has opened the region’s first TikTok LIVE Creator Studio, a facility designed to nurture digital talent and transform creative ambition into viable enterprise. The launch reflects a broader regional momentum towards supporting innovation across sectors, as the UAE positions itself at the forefront of digital industries.
The studio emerged from a collaboration between Innovation City and TikTok, with the platform’s leadership for the Middle East and Turkey region participating in the inauguration. Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of Innovation City Free Zone Authority, oversaw the opening alongside Dr. Rashid Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Director-General of RAK Chamber, and Boxia Liu, Head of TikTok LIVE for MENA and Türkiye. Anas Hijjawi, Innovation City’s Acting CEO, and Nabil Arnous, Chief Commercial Officer of Innovation City, were also present at the ceremony.
The studio addresses a particular gap in the regional infrastructure for content creation. By providing dedicated facilities and support, Innovation City seeks to attract creators, streamline their production processes and create an ecosystem where digital talent can flourish. This initiative sits within a wider effort by Ras Al Khaimah to establish itself as a destination for innovation and digital enterprise, drawing on its free zone advantages and business friendly environment.
The timing aligns with broader initiatives across the emirates to democratise technology and creative opportunity. As we reported in our coverage of UAE Codes Day, the nation continues to make coding and digital skills accessible across society, reinforcing its global technology credentials. Similarly, Sharjah Media City’s Bright Ideas challenge demonstrates how emirates across the federation are investing in innovation infrastructure and supporting creators in translating concept into commercial reality.
For creators themselves, the studio offers something tangible: a professional environment equipped for live streaming, content production and collaboration. Beyond the physical space, access to a global platform with millions of users across the MENA region provides a direct pathway to audience engagement and monetisation.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
This development underscores how competition and collaboration between the emirates is accelerating innovation across the UAE. Ras Al Khaimah’s investment in creator infrastructure demonstrates the federation’s recognition that digital talent and creative industries are drivers of economic diversification. The availability of such facilities across multiple emirates creates a more vibrant ecosystem for content makers, talent retention and digital entrepreneurship throughout the region.
The studio also signals the maturation of the creator economy as a legitimate sector worthy of institutional support. By providing professional infrastructure and formal recognition, innovation authorities across the emirates are positioning their jurisdictions as places where digital creators can build sustainable careers. This attracts international platforms like TikTok to invest locally and encourages talented individuals to remain within the UAE rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere.
