A partnership between Louvre Abu Dhabi and LITO Masters releases meticulously reproduced works by Fragonard, Renoir, Mondrian, Hokusai and Kandinsky, using patented technology to capture every brushstroke and texture of the originals.
The marriage of technology and artistic heritage has long fascinated those who believe that great art should transcend the confines of museum walls. Now, Louvre Abu Dhabi and LITO Masters have realised this vision through an ambitious collaboration, releasing a collection of limited-edition prints that faithfully reproduce some of the world’s most celebrated masterpieces.
The initiative draws from the museum’s distinguished collection, featuring works by Fragonard, Renoir, Mondrian, Hokusai and Kandinsky alongside pieces by other iconic artists. What distinguishes these reproductions is the rigorous methodology behind their creation. Using LITO’s patented 3D Hi-Rnd© technology, each artwork has been meticulously recreated to preserve not merely the colours but also the subtle relief and texture of the originals, thereby capturing every brushstroke and nuance. The process aims to bridge the sensory and emotional experience one encounters within the museum and what collectors might experience in their own spaces.
The technical process was itself remarkable in scope. A dedicated three-day scanning session took place within Louvre Abu Dhabi using high-precision equipment specially brought from Austria, conducted by LITO’s expert team. Each resulting reproduction underwent rigorous review and approval by the museum’s scientific, curatorial and collection management teams before release, ensuring that the integrity and authenticity of the artworks remained inviolable.
Lamya Al Nuaimi, Director of Development, Marketing and Communications at Louvre Abu Dhabi, reflected on the partnership’s significance. “This collaboration marks an exciting step in making the Louvre Abu Dhabi collection accessible to a wider global audience. Our partnership with LITO offers the public a new way to engage with these masterpieces, preserving their essence while introducing them into personal spaces around the world.”
Charles Gouchault, Founding Partner of LITO Masters, emphasised the mutual commitment to cultural preservation and exchange. “We are very proud of this partnership with Louvre Abu Dhabi, a museum unlike any other, that fosters meaningful connections through art. This initiative extends the reach of the museum’s collection beyond its walls. By leveraging LITO’s technology, we are able to offer the public a new way to connect with these works, while contributing to their long-term cultural preservation.”
What it means for Abu Dhabi
This initiative represents a significant expansion of Louvre Abu Dhabi’s cultural influence, extending the museum’s mission of fostering cross-cultural understanding and artistic appreciation beyond its physical galleries. By democratising access to masterpieces through carefully curated reproductions, the partnership reinforces Abu Dhabi’s position as a global centre for cultural innovation and artistic excellence.
The collaboration also strengthens the museum’s commitment to making art accessible to collectors worldwide whilst maintaining scholarly rigour in each reproduction. As part of the museum’s ongoing efforts to engage audiences through new technologies and partnerships, this venture complements recent initiatives including programming that explores how colour unites cultures and artistic endeavours that examine the profound stories embedded within classical masterpieces.
