A Month of National Pride: Dubai Celebrates the UAE's Spirit and Heritage

Brand Dubai orchestrates an emirate-wide celebration of national identity from November through December, bringing together government, semi-government and private sector partners in a coordinated programme honouring the nation's founding vision and continued progress.

Throughout November and into December, Dubai will pulse with the rhythm of national celebration. Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, is orchestrating a month long programme of events and activities that honour the UAE’s heritage, recognise its achievements, and invite citizens, residents and visitors to express their connection to the nation.

Running from 3rd November to 2nd December 2026, the ‘National Month’ initiative was established by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The programme brings together participating entities from across government, semi-government and the private sector in a unified effort to celebrate the UAE’s national occasions with particular focus on the nation’s 55th ‘Eid Al Etihad’.

Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, describes the celebrations as an opportunity to reflect national pride and creative expression through a diverse array of initiatives. “We are working closely with our partners across government, semi-government and private sector entities to organise celebrations that reflect the significance of the UAE’s national occasions and offer everyone an opportunity to express their love for the nation and pride in its journey,” she explains. “Our efforts focus on delivering a diverse and coordinated programme of events and activities.”

The centrepiece initiatives include UAE Flag Day celebrations, ‘Eid Al Etihad’ festivities, the Flag Garden, and the ‘UAE Parade’. A particularly noteworthy element is the ‘Stories of Our Determination’ short film competition, launched by the Dubai Films and Games Commission, an entity under the Dubai Media Council. The competition invites creative talent to share narratives of unity and determination, ensuring that the voice of the creative community resonates throughout the celebrations. As November brings twenty international exhibitions and conferences to Dubai’s premier venues, National Month adds yet another dimension to the emirate’s cultural calendar.

Across Dubai, government, semi-government and private sector entities will organise their own programmes, bringing the spirit of national celebration to communities throughout the emirate. These activities will offer employees, visitors and residents opportunities to participate in festivities that reinforce the values of unity and national pride whilst honouring the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Fathers whose vision established the foundations for the nation’s progress.

The coordinated approach ensures that individual initiatives complement one another, creating a seamless tapestry of celebration across the emirate. Details of events, including specific dates and locations, will be announced progressively, enabling the public to plan their participation in celebrations scheduled throughout the month.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

National Month represents a moment for the entire UAE to reflect upon its collective identity and shared values. By honouring the vision of the Founding Fathers and recognising the leadership’s continued efforts to advance the nation, the celebrations strengthen the bonds that unite all seven emirates. The programme’s emphasis on unity, heritage and aspiration resonates across the Emirates, inviting Abu Dhabi residents and visitors to participate in a broader national conversation about identity and progress.

The initiative also demonstrates how coordinated cultural programming, drawing together government and private sector partners, can create meaningful experiences that connect communities to national purpose. For Abu Dhabi, this model of collaborative celebration serves as an affirmation of the values that define the UAE: unity in diversity, respect for heritage, and a shared commitment to the nation’s future trajectory.
