The 42nd edition of ADIPEC brings together global decision-makers to shape the future of energy security, technological innovation and sustainable growth, reflecting the UAE's steadfast commitment to international partnership
The grandeur of Abu Dhabi’s energy calendar reached its apex on 2 November as the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference opened its doors to the world’s most influential voices in energy, technology and finance. Under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, formally opened ADIPEC 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, welcoming an unprecedented gathering that would continue until 5 November.
The scale of this edition speaks to the event’s significance. More than 2,260 exhibiting companies have assembled across 16 halls and 30 country pavilions, their collective presence spanning the entire global energy value chain. Over 239,000 attendees from government, industry, finance and technology sectors were expected to participate, while more than 1,800 speakers would engage in 380 sessions addressing the defining questions of contemporary energy policy and practice.
In his opening address, His Highness Sheikh Mansour noted that the UAE, under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to strengthen its role as a trusted partner in global energy security through strategic investment, robust infrastructure development and the deployment of advanced technology. The transformation sweeping across the global energy sector, he observed, demands new solutions, deeper international cooperation and partnerships among governments, institutions and leading companies, coupled with substantial investment in resilient and efficient energy systems. Crucially, he stressed, this evolution must maintain balance between energy security, economic growth and sustainability.
The conference has positioned itself as a forum for discussing strategic priorities that will define energy’s future: energy security and resilience, investment attraction, infrastructure development, and the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency and accelerate project development. Specialised zones showcase innovations across artificial intelligence, digital transformation, lower-carbon technologies, maritime services and logistics, creating spaces for collaboration among companies, investors and technology innovators.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, delivered the opening remarks, emphasising the UAE’s resilience in testing circumstances. He paid tribute to the courage and unity demonstrated by the UAE Armed Forces, Civil Defence, firefighters and first responders, noting that this collective steadfastness reflected the example set by the nation’s leadership. He highlighted a partnership between ADNOC, OpenAI and G42, developed under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, designed to transform ADNOC’s field development, well management and commercial operations through advanced artificial intelligence.
The conference underscored the UAE’s position as a responsible, reliable and credible energy partner, reaffirming its commitment to dialogue, active diplomacy and political solutions that support market stability and ensure the continued flow of energy supplies. As Sheikh Mansour’s various engagements with global leaders throughout 2026 have demonstrated, whether through his earlier meetings with the presidents of Senegal, Albania and Angola, the UAE remains committed to deepening economic partnerships and international cooperation across multiple sectors.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
ADIPEC represents more than a commercial gathering; it embodies Abu Dhabi’s role as a nexus for global energy strategy and technological innovation. The event’s unprecedented scale, with record numbers of exhibitors and attendees, reflects the emirate’s standing as a centre for high-stakes dialogue on energy security, investment opportunities and the technological solutions shaping the global economy. For Abu Dhabi specifically, ADIPEC serves as a platform through which the emirate demonstrates its commitment to balancing traditional energy expertise with forward-thinking digital and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The focus on emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and digital transformation, aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader vision for economic diversification and technological leadership. The partnerships being forged at the conference, including the collaboration between ADNOC, OpenAI and G42, signal the emirate’s ambition to remain at the forefront of energy innovation whilst addressing global sustainability imperatives. For the capital’s business, finance and technology communities, ADIPEC provides a crucial venue for networking, investment and the exploration of solutions that will define energy markets for decades to come.
