A landmark programme launches this week to equip emerging talent across the Arab world with the knowledge and skills to navigate rapid economic transformation driven by technology, sustainability and creativity.
The Arab Youth Centre has opened the doors to its New Economy Program 2026, a substantial educational initiative designed to help 400 young Arabs from across the region understand the seismic shifts reshaping contemporary business and employment. The first group of 100 participants began their training today, with three further cohorts to follow throughout November, each delivered entirely in Arabic through online platforms that connect learners across geographical borders.
At its foundation lies a deeply practical approach to economic change. The programme examines how digital platforms have transformed the relationship between businesses and their customers, how resource efficiency now underpins innovative business models, and how cultural and creative content have become genuine engines of economic value. Young participants will consider these developments in direct relation to their own career ambitions, exploring the skills that emerging labour markets demand and the entrepreneurial opportunities that technological and environmental shifts create.
Fatima Al Hallami, Executive Director of the Arab Youth Centre, articulated the vision behind this work: “Investing in young people’s knowledge and capabilities is essential to building more diverse and competitive Arab economies. Through our partnership with the New Economy Academy, we aim to help young Arabs understand economic change, make informed career decisions and establish businesses that meet their communities’ needs. By connecting their ambitions with development priorities, we strengthen their contribution to sustainable economic growth.”
The New Economy Academy will deliver the programme through a network of specialist trainers and economists, weaving together abstract economic concepts with tangible examples of how these forces operate across different industries and markets. Four interlocking themes structure the learning experience. The first explores the technological foundations of contemporary business: data, artificial intelligence, blockchain and digital infrastructure, alongside financial innovation and the role of human capital in driving growth. The second examines how technology has reshaped entire industries and labour markets, particularly through the platform and gig economies that have created new pathways for independent professionals to reach customers and generate income. The third brings together the imperatives of sustainability and responsible technological governance, exploring how economic transformation intersects with environmental stewardship and ethical decision-making. The fourth turns to the experience and creative economies, recognising how culture and creative content generate value and inform the development of products and services that sustain business growth.
This initiative builds on the Arab Youth Centre’s existing commitment to developing young talent across the region. As we reported earlier, the Centre has recently empowered 11 innovators across seven Arab nations with a transformative General Motors partnership, supporting the development of solutions in artificial intelligence, mobility and healthcare. The Centre has also celebrated the graduation of 50 young media leaders from across the Arab world, who completed intensive training in artificial intelligence and digital storytelling.
Each cohort will undertake eight hours of structured training across two days, with four hours of sessions daily. The opening cohort runs on 3 and 4 November, with subsequent groups meeting on 10–11, 17–18 and 24–25 November. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive electronic certificates of participation issued jointly by the Arab Youth Centre and the New Economy Academy.
What it means for Abu Dhabi
This programme represents a significant investment in human capital development across the Arab world, reinforcing the UAE’s position as a centre for innovation and economic leadership. By equipping 400 young Arabs with the knowledge to understand and navigate economic transformation, the initiative strengthens the intellectual foundations upon which regional prosperity depends. The focus on technology, sustainability and creativity aligns with Abu Dhabi’s strategic priorities in diversifying the economy and developing the skilled workforce that these sectors require.
The digital delivery model and emphasis on practical application reflect the pedagogical approaches that have made the Arab Youth Centre a respected institution. By bringing together young talent from across the region and giving them the language and concepts to understand contemporary economic forces, the programme contributes to the collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture that benefits Abu Dhabi as a hub for Arab innovation and enterprise.
