Dubai becomes the world's crossroads for specialty coffee in January 2027

The sixth World of Coffee Dubai will unite every participant in the coffee supply chain, from growers to baristas, in a single remarkable convergence that transforms three days into a comprehensive global marketplace.

The specialty coffee world converges on Dubai in January. From 26th to 28th January 2027, the Dubai World Trade Centre will host the sixth edition of World of Coffee Dubai, an event that gathers the entire ecosystem of specialty coffee production and commerce beneath one roof. Organised by DXB LIVE in partnership with the Specialty Coffee Association, the gathering takes shape around a deceptively simple but powerful idea: that the complete journey from origin to cup unfolds most powerfully when every participant meets in the same place, at the same time.

Under the theme “The Center of Specialty,” the 2027 edition brings together growers, roasters, equipment manufacturers, importers and distributors, café owners, baristas and merchants. Each fulfils a distinct purpose in coffee’s remarkable transformation. Growers determine quality at origin; roasters shape its character through their craft; equipment manufacturers engineer the tools that express that character; importers and distributors navigate global supply lines; café owners build their businesses around the bean; and baristas perfect the final expression. As we explored in our coverage of Aishazza in Dubai, exceptional coffee transcends mere refreshment, becoming instead a deliberate pause in the day’s rhythm. The World of Coffee Dubai amplifies that philosophy by bringing the entire chain of creation into conversation.

Dubai’s geography makes this proposition commercially compelling. The city sits at a remarkable convergence point: major coffee origins such as Ethiopia and Kenya lie within easy reach, whilst the fast-growing specialty markets of the Gulf Cooperation Council and South Asia extend its influence eastward. Business that would ordinarily demand months of travel between origins and markets compresses into three days of concentrated exchange.

The market’s momentum reinforces the significance of this gathering. Specialty coffee represents the fastest-growing segment of the region’s coffee market, with projections of 9.05% annual growth through 2031 across the Middle East and Africa, outpacing conventional coffee. Supply at origin strengthens in parallel; the United States Department of Agriculture forecasts a record 2026/27 harvest of 12.1 million bags in Ethiopia, one of specialty coffee’s most celebrated origins and one of the closest to Dubai. The convergence of supply and demand creates a rare moment of market alignment.

Exhibitor commitments for 2027 signal confidence in the gathering’s scale. Saudi Arabian companies have doubled their floor space compared with the 2026 edition, whilst African participation has also doubled, expanding the range of producers and varieties. The show will welcome representation from producing countries including Ethiopia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Panama and Peru. New exhibitors confirmed for 2027 include CMA, the Italian manufacturer of espresso machines that operates a high-tech facility spanning 40,000 square metres in Susegana, Treviso, alongside returning names such as Probat and Simonelli Group.

The 2026 edition established the benchmark for this expansion, recording more than 20,000 trade visits and bringing together over 2,100 brands from 80 countries, with nine national pavilions represented. Seventy per cent of participants reported generating qualified leads, affirming the show’s effectiveness as a commercial platform. Royal Bannugul Restaurant’s celebration of Arabian coffee ritual reminds us that beneath the commercial exchange lies a deeper cultural significance, one that the World of Coffee Dubai honours through its commitment to bringing every voice in the specialty coffee conversation to the same table.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The World of Coffee Dubai’s expansion reflects the region’s rising prominence within the global specialty coffee market. As consumer interest in premium coffee continues to grow across the Gulf Cooperation Council, the availability of direct connections with international growers, roasters and equipment manufacturers strengthens the supply chains that support Abu Dhabi’s own thriving coffee culture. The doubling of African participation particularly matters for the Emirates, given the historical and cultural significance of Ethiopian and Kenyan origins within Arabian coffee traditions.

For Abu Dhabi’s hospitality and café sector, the event’s scale offers an unparalleled opportunity to source exceptional specialty coffees, connect with international suppliers and explore emerging trends within the market. The 2027 edition’s demonstrated commitment to showcasing the complete coffee supply chain aligns with the emirate’s broader embrace of culinary excellence and experiential sophistication, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a centre of refined consumption and hospitality innovation.
