The vision of modern tertiary care is taking tangible form in Dubai Studio City, where Aster DM Healthcare and MENASCO have committed to developing Medcare Royal Hills Hospital, a comprehensive medical facility representing an investment of approximately AED 350 million. The partnership reflects a deliberate expansion of accessible, specialised healthcare across the emirate, with construction and development now underway.
Spanning approximately 430,000 square feet of built-up space across 239,000 square feet of gross floor area, the hospital will accommodate 144 beds and six operating theatres. Its architectural and clinical design prioritises integration of multiple specialties under one roof, with particular emphasis on oncology, cardiovascular care, neuroscience and immunology services. The facility represents Aster DM Healthcare’s commitment to invest more than AED 1 billion across the UAE over the next five years, a substantial commitment to healthcare infrastructure expansion throughout the region.
The oncology centre emerges as a cornerstone of the facility’s offering. Comprehensive in scope, it will bring together medical, surgical and radiation oncology supported by advanced technologies including linear accelerator equipment, PET-CT imaging, gamma scanning, iodine therapy and chemotherapy capabilities. A dedicated breast care diagnostic unit will provide coordinated care spanning screening, diagnosis, treatment and long-term follow-up. The centre’s vision extends to future bone marrow transplantation services, positioning Medcare Royal Hills as a destination for complex cancer care.
Cardiology services will encompass comprehensive cardiac care and cardiac surgery, underpinned by an advanced catheterisation laboratory for both diagnostic and interventional procedures. Neurology and spine services will include neuro-interventional radiology capabilities, whilst robotic-assisted surgical technologies will enhance the hospital’s advanced surgical offering across multiple disciplines.
Specialised immunology and haematology services will address immune-related conditions, autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, alongside blood-related conditions including anaemia, clotting disorders and blood cancers. The breadth of clinical specialties planned includes internal medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, ENT, general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, endocrinology, nuclear medicine, urology, dermatology, neurosurgery, pulmonology, rheumatology and cardiothoracic surgery.
Additional facilities will encompass dedicated paediatric intensive care, endoscopy and advanced endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography capabilities, a sleep laboratory and comprehensive critical care resources. The emergency department, designed as a major facility, will feature 18 observation beds with dedicated capability to manage medical and surgical emergencies including trauma cases. Women’s health services will include a dedicated labour, delivery and recovery suite with water birth facilities.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, noted that this facility continues a forty-year commitment to establishing world-class healthcare institutions serving the UAE’s population. Alisha Moopen, Managing Director and Group CEO, emphasised that the partnership represents expansion of Medcare’s footprint in Dubai, building on the group’s existing network of 12 clinics in the area and making advanced specialised care more accessible to communities throughout the emirate.
As we reported in Dubai Health Authority’s recent initiatives to enhance healthcare access, the emirate continues developing comprehensive programmes to serve diverse patient populations. Medcare Royal Hills reflects this broader trajectory of healthcare expansion, positioning specialised tertiary care within reach of Dubai’s residents and reinforcing the emirate’s reputation as a healthcare destination of considerable depth and sophistication.
