Advanced manufacturing technologies take centre stage at Gulfood's twelfth edition

The region's most significant gathering of food producers, equipment makers and hospitality professionals has concluded with a clear message: integrated innovation is essential to securing the future of food in the Gulf.

The recently concluded 12th edition of Gulfood Manufacturing demonstrated the transformative potential of advanced technologies in strengthening food security across the region. Held at Dubai World Trade Centre, the exhibition drew an exceptional gathering of international decision-makers and business leaders united by a single imperative: building more resilient, efficient and sustainable food production systems.

The scale of engagement reflected the event’s significance. Four co-located exhibitions, including GulfHost, ISM Middle East and Private Label Middle East, united the entire food production, retail and hospitality value chain, from ingredients and processing through to automation, confectionery and foodservice equipment. This integrated approach created an environment where manufacturers could explore the complete ecosystem of modern food production.

Mark Napier, Vice President of inD, observed that the exhibition had captured the industry’s momentum. “What has been particularly encouraging is the level of serious commercial engagement on the show floor, with decision-makers exploring new production lines, evaluating major equipment investments and progressing real business opportunities,” he noted. The calibre of international participation reflected Dubai’s position as a global business hub capable of bringing together industry leaders amid economic and geopolitical complexity.

The technologies and solutions on display addressed the core challenges facing modern food manufacturers. Innovations focused on improving productivity, maintaining product quality, optimising resource consumption and reducing operating costs emerged as essential tools for building operational resilience. These developments underscore a broader truth: food security depends not only on reliable production and processing, but on an integrated network of factories, equipment, suppliers and logistics services working in concert.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid visited the exhibition, emphasising food security and manufacturing as strategic pillars of UAE development, reflecting the nation’s commitment to strengthening its position in global food systems. By improving production efficiency and strengthening operational resilience, the integrated approaches showcased at Gulfood help manufacturers adapt to evolving market demands and develop increasingly efficient facilities.

What it means for Abu Dhabi

The exhibition’s conclusions carry direct significance for the Emirates and the wider Gulf region. As a major hub for food manufacturing and distribution, the UAE relies on precisely the kind of integrated, technology-driven ecosystem that Gulfood highlighted. The convergence of international expertise and investment in production innovation strengthens the nation’s ability to produce food domestically and reduce reliance on imports.

Looking ahead, Gulfood Manufacturing will relocate to Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai for its 2027 edition, scheduled for 1st to 3rd November. The move to a new venue reflects the exhibition’s continued growth and its rising importance to the region’s manufacturing landscape.
