H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, visited Majlis Zakhir in the Al Ain Region to offer his condolences following the death of national duty hero candidate Saeed Abdalla Alshamsi.
The WAM statement said Alshamsi was martyred during an official training mission in the UAE. At the mourning majlis, Sheikh Theyab conveyed the deepest sympathies of the UAE leadership and people to the family and relatives of the fallen national.
Sheikh Theyab prayed that the deceased be enveloped in mercy and ranked among the righteous and martyrs in Paradise, and asked that the family be granted strength, patience and solace in their loss. The visit underlined the state’s continuing commitment to honour members of the armed forces and other national duty personnel who lose their lives in service of the country.
The Deputy Chairman’s presence at Majlis Zakhir reflects long-standing Emirati traditions of public mourning and communal support for bereaved families. Such gestures by senior officials reaffirm the prominence the UAE places on the sacrifices of those who defend the nation and preserve its achievements.
The statement added that Sheikh Theyab affirmed the pride of the UAE, its leadership and its people in the fallen heroes and their sacrifices, saying their devotion and loyalty uphold the nation’s dignity and ensure the national flag continues to fly high.
The mourning majlis in Al Ain is among the customary rites through which families receive condolences from officials, community leaders and citizens. It also provides a forum for collective recognition of service and sacrifice, and for the wider community to express solidarity with the bereaved.
This visit by a senior Abu Dhabi figure to the Al Ain mourning majlis demonstrates the emirate’s hands-on role in supporting families of the fallen and maintaining the conventions that surround national mourning. The gesture follows official practice of publicly acknowledging those who die on duty so that their service is recorded in the nation’s collective memory.
