UAE media chief advances international cooperation at Arab Media Summit

Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Authority (NMA), held separate talks with senior Azerbaijani and US officials on the sidelines of the Arab Media Summit in Dubai.

In a meeting with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Al Hamed was joined by Elchin Bagirov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, NMA Secretary-General. The discussions focused on reinforcing media cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding already concluded between the NMA and the State Advertising Agency of Azerbaijan.

The NMA chairman said UAE–Azerbaijan relations rest on a shared outlook that recognises the media’s capacity to build bridges of understanding, bring peoples closer together and create opportunities for the exchange of expertise. Both sides underlined the value of continued consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest and the exchange of professional experience to support the development of media work.

Mr Al Hamed also met Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to the US President for Arab & African Affairs, together with Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi. That conversation addressed the role of the media in strengthening channels of communication between the Arab region and international audiences and the need to cultivate a media discourse capable of conveying a deeper, more objective account of the region’s issues and transformations.

Participants in both engagements highlighted the importance of sustained media dialogue and the exchange of perspectives to help develop modern communication tools, consolidate mutual understanding and foster cooperation and partnership across societies.

The meetings form part of the NMA’s broader diplomatic and professional outreach at the Arab Media Summit, where officials and media leaders from the region convene to discuss evolving industry standards and cross‑border collaboration.
