Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi announces inaugural Abu Dhabi Water & Power Week – Special Water Edition
A three‑day summit in December will convene policymakers, investors and technology leaders at ADNEC alongside the UN Water Conference to drive water resilience and investment.
Abu Dhabi to host specialist water and power forum in December
The Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi (DoE) has revealed details of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Water & Power Week (ADWPW) – Special Water Edition, to be held from 8–10 December 2026 at ADNEC Centre, Abu Dhabi. The event will run in conjunction with the United Nations Water Conference 2026, co‑hosted by the UAE and the Republic of Senegal.
Organisers say ADWPW will assemble policymakers, investors, utilities, technology firms and international organisations through an integrated programme made up of three flagship summits: the Policy and Regulation Summit, the Finance and Investment Summit, and the Technology and Innovation Summit. The aim is to advance dialogue, accelerate the uptake of practical solutions and scale investments that strengthen water resilience across the emirate and beyond.
The summits will examine governance and regulatory frameworks that underpin water resilience, opportunities to mobilise finance for infrastructure and the rapid adoption of technologies to deliver more efficient and sustainable water systems. DoE also outlined a series of strategic engagements, including the fourth Abu Dhabi Water & Power Majlis, technology showcases and announcements of new strategic partnerships.
A dedicated Abu Dhabi Pavilion will present an interactive experience across 55 stations, charting the emirate’s water sector evolution — from heritage to current achievements and future ambitions. DoE said the pavilion will highlight the milestones and transformations that have contributed to the development of Abu Dhabi’s water system.
DoE plans to launch a specialised platform designed to support innovation and practical solutions for sector challenges, and a Youth Water Program developed with several academic institutions. The youth initiative intends to attract and empower young talent to devise and test pragmatic solutions; interested applicants are invited to register via the department’s website.
Eng. Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, described ADWPW as a mechanism to bolster global efforts on water resilience and to fast‑track deployable solutions that meet growing demand. The department said the week will seek tangible outcomes that support sustainable economic growth and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s role as a centre for collaboration and innovation in water and energy.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Obaidli, Director‑General of Regulatory Affairs at the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, emphasised that water security is central to Abu Dhabi’s long‑term prosperity and that the event will bring governance, infrastructure, investment and innovation together as an integrated response to future pressures.
The initiative is aligned with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036 and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and is intended to catalyse the policies, investments and technologies needed to strengthen water and energy resilience.
