Abu Dhabi Celebrates a Decade of Sustainable Business Excellence with Tenth Annual Leadership Awards

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group has unveiled the winners of its milestone tenth annual awards ceremony, honouring organisations and individuals championing environmental responsibility and sustainable practices across the emirate's most dynamic sectors.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), operating under the auspices of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, has announced the recipients of its tenth annual Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Awards, a prestigious recognition programme that celebrates advancing sustainability and responsible business practices across diverse sectors.

The awards ceremony marked a significant milestone, reflecting a decade of commitment to fostering excellence, facilitating knowledge exchange and catalysing sustainability action throughout Abu Dhabi and the broader region. The evening honoured not only the principal award winners but also those organisations and individuals receiving Highly Commended recognition, whilst reflecting upon the awards’ evolving role in shaping corporate environmental responsibility.

Recognising Excellence Across Six Categories

An independent panel of distinguished expert judges evaluated submissions across six categories encompassing energy management, leadership, reporting, communication, management systems and sustainability initiatives. The breadth of categories underscores the multifaceted nature of organisational sustainability practice.

In recognition of the tenth anniversary milestone, Dolphin Energy received the Decade of Leadership Award, acknowledging a sustained commitment to sustainability and the measurable environmental and social impact delivered through strategic partnership and technological innovation. ABB Power Transmission and Distribution secured the Best Energy Management Initiative award, whilst Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, representing ADNEC Group, was named Sustainability Leader of the Year 2026.

First Abu Dhabi Bank received recognition for Best Sustainability Report, whilst the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi was honoured with the Best Sustainability Communication Programme award. Eng Jamal Mohammed Al Hadrami of Abu Dhabi City Municipality was designated Sustainability Manager of the Year 2026, and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry received the Best Sustainability Initiative award.

Highly Commended Recognition

The judges additionally awarded Highly Commended status to TA’ZIZ for Best Energy Management Initiative, Mohammed Ahmed Al Rayes of Dubai Municipality as Sustainability Leader of the Year, Emirates Global Aluminium for Best Sustainability Report, TAQA Water Solutions for Best Sustainability Communication Programme, Saqib Sajjad of ADNOC Gas as Sustainability Manager of the Year, and the Integrated Transport Centre for Best Sustainability Initiative.

Huda Al Houqani, Director of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group Office, emphasised the significance of the decade milestone: “Over the past ten years, the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Awards have become a platform for recognising excellence, sharing knowledge and inspiring action across Abu Dhabi and the region. This year’s winners and participants show what organisations and individuals can achieve when they turn ideas into action. Embedding sustainability in governance, strategy and decision-making matters more than ever, because long-term prosperity depends on the value we create for people, communities and the environment. Through these awards, we encourage organisations to learn from one another and build on each other’s progress.”
