The movement has been entirely designed, developed and produced by the Hublot Manufacture engineers and watchmakers and with it represents the most watchmaking components used in a watch created by Hublot to date, with 637 components comprising this exceptional timepiece. From a technical and design perspective, the MP-05 LaFerrari was developed entirely in parallel with the 2013 LaFerrari car alongside the Ferrari teams, and there are a number of common points. The watch’s record 50 days power reserve is due to its 11 barrels that are arranged in a line similar to a spinal column, interconnected so that they do not each discharge in turn but support each other. In terms of shape, the watch features a complex-shaped sapphire crystal that is distinctly reminiscent of the car's outline, with an open case-back made from black PVD titanium. The watch features a titanium and carbon insert in its centre that reveals the winding crown, with the time-setting crown positioned under the case – both are completely integrated into the design and therefore practically invisible. The movement has an original display, featuring small seconds on the vertical display indicated by means of an aluminium cylinder fastened onto the suspended tourbillon cage – which is significantly bigger than usual with a cage diameter of 14.50 mm, for even better appreciation of the mechanical parts. The hours and minutes are displayed to the right of the barrels and are also indicated by means of one anodised black aluminium cylinder each. On the left of these is the cylinder indicating the power reserve. Reinforcing bars either side, made from anodised red aluminium, are resonant of Ferrari's red signature. On each cylinder the size of the numerals has been maximised with white SuperLuminova, a small detail but a perfect enhancement. It’s a stunning watch that looks very much like a concept watch. It is, of course, mounted on a rubber strap with a special folding buckle in black PVD titanium. The desire for a truly exceptional watch has been extended to the design of the presentation case, which is made from schedoni leather and carbon fibre and contains the specific tools for winding the watch. A perfect watch for those who admire the world of motorsport and particularly the art and genius of Ferrari, the MP-05 is available in a limited edition of 50 numbered pieces.
