BR01 Aviation Collection Since launching in 1992, the French watch company Bell & Ross has been continuing to grow and inspire wave after wave of new admirers. Their distinct design principles and instantly recognisable form make them stand out in the highly competitive world of luxury watchmaking. The watches in the newly launched BR01 Aviation Collection are no exception. The collection is directly inspired by the instrumentation of aircraft cockpits and addresses four fundamental requirements: legibility, functionality, precision and water- resistance. The Aviation collection is comprised of three new models – the Airspeed, Flight Compass and Climb. Each model is inspired by different aspects of aeronautical instrumentation. For the Airspeed watch, that influence was the anemometer, which indicates speed. It measures an aircraft’s speed in relation to the air through which it is moving and allows the plane to be flown in a controlled way without visibility. For the Flight Compass watch it was the gyrocompass, which functions as a course indicator. It’s a vital instrument for flying, used during both manual flight and autopilot, to indicate the course a plane is on. The Climb watch takes its design cues from the variometer, which serves as a vertical speed indicator. Essential for pilots, this instrument indicates whether the plane is ascending, descending or in level flight. It works using atmospheric pressure and is graduated in hundreds of feet per minute. With this new trio, Bell & Ross recreates the graphic style of navigation instruments as closely as possible, once again going beyond the traditional approach to reading the time. Bell and Ross
