Indeed, outerwear is a big theme for this collection, as is seasonally appropriate for autumn/winter. An ultra-contemporary sportswear edge is brought to the forefront in a fantastic (and functional) hooded parka, a long leather overcoat with a plush lining, utility jackets and gilets in olive drab and black. A tailored wool equestrian coat is rendered in a deep, muted mustardy brown, with contrasting collar, for a smart country weekend vibe with a contemporary twist. Personally, we’re a bit obsessed with the buttery soft, three-button leather car coat in the richest shade of caramel. Paired with jeans or over a suit, it’s effortlessly, eminently stylish. Whilst the collection does draw inspiration from the original Mr Dior’s wardrobe, rest assured the details are ultra-modern. High-tech Japanese nylon and luxe sheepskin are used in the parkas and utility jackets; and unexpected touches such as a cargo pocket on a pair of pinstriped trousers or a zip on the sleeve of a blazer give the collection a contemporary edge. The impact of the legendary Christian Dior is still felt everywhere at the House, but what’s wonderful about this collection is the personal touches, the glimpses into the man’s personal style, the bits of history that bring it all to life in a most charming yet fashion-forward way .
