A symbol of infinity, of completeness, the figure 8 comprises a unique geometric symmetry and curving lines, and has previously always been found on the dial of the classic Droz Grande Seconde. The Swiss-born watchmaker Jaquet Droz always considered 8 to be his lucky number, which has since been regarded as the ultimate touchstone by the watchmakers from La Chaux-de-Fonds since the Age of Enlightenment. Little wonder then, that when the creative minds at Jaquet Droz thought about women and their femininity, a sparkling and shiny figure eight came to mind. And thus, the number now appears on a women’s timepiece from the Droz manufacture, on the case and buckle of the ultra-glamorous Lady 8 Shiny. Making its first appearance in the Jaquet Droz collection in 2013, the Lady 8 is today a symbolic feminine timepiece and a highly precious jewel. While the Lady 8's general architecture remains true to its original design - an uncluttered dial crowned with a precious stone – the craftsmen have given themselves complete freedom in a veritable extravaganza of different materials. The Lady 8 Shiny plays on curves for women who appreciate the fluidity of time. The timepiece reveals a true work of art – a dial crafted in gemstones with grey gold and diamonds (1.49 carats). One look at this dazzling timepiece and you’ll see why it’s been dubbed ‘Shiny.’ It stands as proof of the jewellery workshop’s extraordinary technical mastery. Charmingly, Jaquet Droz has added a coquettish touch: at the watch’s summit sits a pearl of diamonds (1.4 carats) that the owner will find herself irresistibly drawn to touch and turn with her finger. In order to give the Lady 8 Shiny more fluid lines, the lugs have given way to a black, rolled-edge leather alligator strap attached to the 35mm case, which comes in gem-set white gold for a total of 4.92 carats. The movement is the Jaquet Droz 1153, a self- winding mechanical movement with a double-barrel, 22 carat rhodium-treated white gold oscillating weight. The new folding clasp, specially created for this model, also takes the shape of a figure eight and is made of grey gold and diamonds (1.51 carats), reaffirming the striking identity of the Lady 8 on the inside of the wrist.
