1 6 5 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I Dolce&Gabbana Women’sCollection Spring/Summer 2015 L ike the menswear counterpart, the Dolce & Gabbana Women’s summer 2015 collection is inspired by the heritage of the Spanish culture on Sicily’s history. Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana’s challenge for the womenswear was to convey the Spanish influence in a non-conventional, non-literal way. They achieved this through contrasting the use of very simple shapes and silhouettes with very rich details and embroideries. The result is a collection full of joy, love and charisma. The new Dolce & Gabbana woman this season is strong, fiery and passionate. The comparison made by the two designers was to the dramatic magnetism of an eruption at Etna, Sicily’s legendary volcano. Indeed, they veered away from a more romantic type of woman to go back to kind of confident earthiness that characterised Dolce & Gabbana’s earliest collections. Today’s woman is bold, conscious of who she is, and she is not afraid to wear clothing that expresses that.
