Victoria Beckham VB Spring/Summer 2015 W ith trademark elegance and poise, Victoria Beckham continues to evolve her brand. In autumn of 2014, the designer launched her first flagship store – a glamorous atelier in London’s up-and-coming fashion hotspot, Dover Street in Mayfair. Beckham has said she used the opening of the retail space as a focal point for defining her identity as a designer and as a brand, and the result is on sophisticated display in her spring/summer 2015 collection. Beckham’s signature silhouettes are redefined and reinterpreted in this new line, yet the core concept of a precise yet wearable uniform remains intact. Impeccable as always, the collection incorporates elements of uniform dressing and military detail, with shoulder epaulets and patch pockets on outerwear, leather belts in contrasting colours, and boxy cut jackets. It’s simply sleek and sophisticated, offering essential foundation pieces reimagined and presented with precise tailoring. But the collection is not about hard edges and rigid lines. The use of luxurious fabrics softens the looks, whilst compelling finishes offer textural interest. Feminine details are understated enough not to disrupt the lines, but add just the right amount of architectural intrigue. We love the jute raincoat with single lapel that zips at the side and ruches delicately from the shoulder, the fitted yet fluid sleeveless top and skinny trousers in burgundy red, and the lush knits with lacing details. What’s incredible about this collection is how deceptively simple it is; Beckham flawlessly balances fit and tailoring with an inviting yet elegant sense of relaxation and ease. 2 0 4 S I M P LY A B U DH A B I
